Black gives way to blue is the upcoming fourth studio album by the American rock band Alice in Chains, which is due for release on September 29, 2009. Not only will it be their first album in nearly fourteen years since the release of their self-titled album, but it is also their first release with new vocalist William DuVall, the replacement of the late Layne Staley, to whom the album will be a tribute. Black Gives Way to Blue also marks the first Alice in Chains album released on Virgin Records, their first venture away from Columbia, who released all of their previous releases. It is also one of the fewinstances where more than one single was released before the album'srelease date. The span of nearly fourteen years between the self-titled album and Black Gives Way to Bluemarks the longest gap between studio albums in Alice in Chains' career. The band had been working on new material since early 2006, shortly before hiring DuVall as their new singer. By April 2007, Alicein Chains had been writing and demoing songs for the album, but the band did not show further signs of progress until October 2008,when they announced that they had begun recording with producer Nick Raskulinecz (of Foo Fighters, Stone Sour and Rush fame) in the studio. The writing and recording process was finally finished on March 18, 2009, guitarist Jerry Cantrell's 43rd birthday.

Murder by Pride is the newest album by Stryper. The first single for the album, "Peace of Mind", debuted at #27 on Christianrock.net on October 24, 2008 and peaked at #1 on February 22, 2009. The track is a cover version, originally performed by Boston. Michael Sweet is currently a touring member of the legendary seventies' band.
Starting May 5, the band announced to release a song per week on iTunesup until July 21. As each new song was released, the previous one wouldno longer be available until the full album was released.
Robert Sweet did not play on the album as the drum parts were provided by Kenny Aronoff. However, Robert Sweet will be present in the tour that the band hasannounced in support of the record, as well as the conmemmoration ofStryper's 25th anniversary.
Stylistically, Michael Sweet has commented, that "after years ofspeaking to fans and hearing comments like 'more guitars,' 'more solos'and 'more screams,' I decided to keep those suggestions in mind as Iwrote each song. It was important to me to try to get back to thatearly sound of STRYPER yet at the same time, to remain relevant today. It's certainly not an easy thing to do, but as I listen to Murder by Pride, I think that was accomplished.

Back from the Dead was released on June 16, 2009. The album is packaged with a DVD featuring commentary on each of the album's tracks. Preceding the album's release, it was streamed for free by Entertainment Weekly and Spinner. An exclusive version of Back from the Dead was made available through Amazon MP3, featuring a newly-recorded version of "(Listen to the) Flower People" in its original style. An additional track, "Saucy Jack", was released through the official Spinal Tap website. Fourteen of the songs have been released as downloadable content for the Rock Band video game series.
The packaging for Back from the Dead can be unfolded to form a diorama of Spinal Tap performing on stage, which the band members poorly demonstrated during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.
While Allmusic reviewer Stephen Thomas Erlewinefelt that the straight forward approach of the re-recorded songs hurtthe remakes, which "pale next to the originals", he wrote that the newsongs are "top-notch, eclipsing the often forced Break Like the Wind, and striking the right balance between parody and real rock & roll. They're the reason to hear Back from the Dead, which otherwise is just a tad too satisfied with its own humor for its own good.
